From housewife to Digital Sakhi.
A letter, in her own words
Namaskar, I am Gautama Amit Raut, an ordinary housewife living in Kandri Vasti village. Today, I am recognized in my village as a Digital Pad Sakhi.
Two years ago, my identity was strictly that of an ordinary housewife and farm laborer. But for the past two years, through our beloved MLA Ashishji Jaiswal Saheb, the Sanitary Pad initiative began. And I found a new path to do something in my life, bringing about a transformation.
Earlier, only the people in my neighborhood and vicinity knew me, but through this initiative, people from women to men across all four villages under the entire Kandri Group Gram Panchayat now recognize me as a Digital Sakhi. When I went to women's homes to distribute sanitary pads, I realized how many problems women face in the village. Many women are deprived of various schemes and are unemployed. But now, every month, through the medium of sanitary pads, I provide them with as much information about schemes as possible and help them get the benefits.
This sanitary pad initiative has given me new recognition and also respect and honor. Earlier, I didn't even know how to use a basic mobile phone, but the Digital Sakhi initiative taught me a lot. Now I finally understand that through this medium and the internet, I can distribute sanitary pads to women.
This initiative has provided a new path and direction for every housewife. And this is solely through our beloved MLA Ashishji Jaiswal Saheb.
